CHALLENGE!
I am so incredibly sorry we haven’t been posting at all, I’ve been ridiculously busy, and me and Edie haven’t had much time to talk about posting times.
But I’ve set up a little challenge here!
It’s actually one that I’ve been using lately, and the results have been very cathartic. It’s been a bit scary at points, but I feel amazing about it.
It’s on a to-do list that I wrote in my journal after my recent birthday with things I will strive to do or achieve when I’m 16. Top of the list is this challenge -
Strive to live a simple, honest and uncomplicated life.
Nowadays, with things like reality TV, and even shows like Gossip Girl, drama is the hot new thing. People buy into the bullshit that unless you have something to complain about, or some hot new topic/person to bitch about, you don’t have anything to share.
Instead, just take a deep breath, and don’t let the everyday dramas affect you. If somebody hurts you, say something directly to them (obviously in a mature, reasonable way), because however daunting that might be, it will pay off so much more than turning around and bitching about it to somebody else.
If someone is trying to involve you in their own dramas, or attempting to bait or provoke you into one, just walk away.
Use your own security and happiness as an anchor, instead of other people’s opinions or gossips.
You’ll find yourself feeling so fulfilled with yourself, and taking that approach to life is definitely something to be proud of yourself for. It’s not done a lot, specially in high school.
Good luck!
And I WILL be posting more soon!
Gopi
This is so incredibly inspiring.
A year 12 girl at my school did this as her drama monologue, and it made me bawl my eyes out. I’m so happy that I found the original.

You know what’s beautiful?
Read the first word again.
To seperate oneself from the burden, the angst, the anguish that we all encounter everyday. To say I am alive, I am wonderful, I am. I AM! That is something to aspire to.

Exciting news!
Hey girls!
Remember a few weeks back, I made a post about going to the writer’s festival? I mentioned that I’d attended some very interesting talks by a writer called Maggie Hamilton who focuses on issues with adolescents of today, and who’s written some books on the subject.
After her last lecture, I gave her my contact details the the URL to this blog, and she wants to use a passage that I wrote on this blog in her new book!
I’m really honoured that she’d quote something off here, and I just wanted to use this as an example that you CAN make a difference.
Put yourself out there, take some chances, and you’ll be amazed to see how things change for you.
Much love,
Gopi
